Barb Butler is indeed a child of Canada, having lived in Manitoba, Ontario, Saskatchewan and Alberta. After graduating from the University of Manitoba with education degrees she taught in both Manitoba and Ontario before a move to Saskatchewan where her journey as a brain injury survivor began.
After a month in a coma, six months is a rehabilitation centre, the better part of four years as a rehab outpatient Barb was left with the desire to learn more about brain injury and make the journey for others easier than hers had been.
After joining the board of the Saskatchewan Brain Injury Association and serving in the roles of Secretary and President she found her way to the founding meeting of the Brain Injury Association of Canada in 2002. She has served as provincial rep, Secretary, Vice President, President, newsletter editor and conference chair.
